Sometimes the best Saturday night plan is the simplest one. No dress code stress, no overpriced dinner reservation, no standing in line at a crowded bar. Just great live music, a margarita in hand, and some of the most beloved songs of the last five decades performed by vocalists who actually know what they are doing. That is exactly what American Stage is delivering this Saturday night with Beach, Please! and at $35 a ticket, it might be the best deal in Tampa Bay this weekend.
Beach, Please! is the first installment in American Stage's Summer Cabaret Series, kicking off on Saturday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the American Stage Theater, located at 163 3rd Street North in downtown St. Petersburg. The two-hour show brings together some of the company's most talented vocalists for a high-energy tribute to the songs of summer think Beach Boys harmonies, ABBA anthems, Steely Dan grooves, Hall & Oates classics, and the full glorious spectrum of yacht rock and summer pop that has defined decades of good times. This is not a cover band in a bar. This is a fully produced live cabaret performance by professional vocalists at one of the Gulf Coast's most respected theater companies.
American Stage is the Tampa Bay area's longest-running and most critically acclaimed professional theater company, and their Summer Cabaret Series has become one of the most beloved summertime traditions in St. Pete. The intimate setting of the American Stage Theater puts you close to the action close enough to feel the energy when a live vocalist launches into an ABBA deep cut or a Steely Dan groove that you forgot how much you loved until this exact moment. Beach, Please! is the kind of show that works for everyone. The date night that actually impresses. The girls' night out that delivers. The spontaneous Saturday plan that ends up being the highlight of the month.
Tickets are $35 and available now at americanstage.org. The box office can also be reached at (727) 823-7529 or boxoffice@americanstage.org. If you are planning to go, do not wait too long summer Saturday nights at American Stage fill up fast, and this one is exactly the kind of evening people talk about on Sunday morning over brunch. From South Tampa, it is a quick 20-minute drive over the bridge into downtown St. Pete. Grab dinner beforehand on Central Avenue, catch the show, and make a full evening of it.
And if Beach, Please! leaves you wanting more and it will the Summer Cabaret Series continues with Black Girl Magic on July 18, a cabaret celebrating iconic women of Broadway, and Sammy & Dino on July 25, a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin with music, dance, and plenty of Rat Pack charm. Three Saturdays, three completely different vibes, all at the same intimate venue for $35 each. Consider your summer social calendar sorted. Grab your tickets at americanstage.org and let someone else do the singing for once.
