Calling All Costumed Pups
If your dog has been waiting all year for their big moment, this is it. Howl-O-Ween, Sparkman Wharf's annual dog costume contest, is back this Sunday, Oct. 18, and it might be the sweetest way to kick off Halloween week in Tampa.
Picture a waterfront afternoon full of tiny superheroes, pumpkin-shaped pugs, and pups who are absolutely not thrilled about their hats but wearing them anyway. Whether you plan to compete or just want to soak in the cuteness, here's what you need to know.
When, Where, and What to Expect
Howl-O-Ween runs Sunday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sparkman Wharf in downtown Tampa's Channel District.
The main event is the costume contest, with categories for the best dressed pup and the best human and dog duo. That second one is your sign to finally coordinate outfits with your four-legged best friend.
Beyond the contest, you'll find pop-up vendors to browse while you mingle. The first 50 dogs to register also get a free treat bag, so plan to arrive early if you want to snag one. Between the open-air setting and a crowd full of fellow dog lovers, it's an easy, low-key way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Why I Love Dog-Friendly Tampa
Events like Howl-O-Ween are a reminder of how much Tampa loves its dogs. From waterfront walks along the Riverwalk to patios that welcome four-legged guests, this city makes it easy to include your pup in everyday life.
When I help clients find their next home, the dog is often part of the conversation too. A fenced yard, a nearby park, or a walkable neighborhood can make all the difference. Whether you're moving up, downsizing, or relocating to Tampa, I'd love to help you find a place that fits your whole family, paws included.

Happy Howl-O-Ween, Tampa!
